Work as a Biomedical Scientist in Haematology and Blood Transfusion at Watford General Hospital, delivering 24/7 testing for acute care and community services. You’ll carry out routine haematology diagnostics, blood film morphology and immunohaematology investigations using automated analysers and manual methods, manage blood products, authorise results and support UKAS quality processes. The role requires HCPC registration and an IBMS-accredited BSc (or equivalent); previous lab experience is helpful but full training will be provided. Expect shift work to cover the service, opportunities to mentor junior staff and the chance that some posts will transfer to HSL’s new Watford hub laboratory in 2026.
This permanent, full-time post with Health Services Laboratories offers a negotiable salary up to £48,500 DOE (including HCA) plus generous staff benefits that support carers and working women: flexible shift patterns, annual salary review without banding limits, 28 days' annual leave, a season ticket loan, cash healthcare, gym discounts, pension contributions and an Employee Assistance Programme.
