This permanent, full‑time Biomedical Support Worker (XR02) post, based in Leeds (LS9), supports diagnostic laboratory services for the NHS. Working to clear standard operating procedures, you will collect, receive, sort and prepare clinical samples (blood, urine and tissues), prepare reagents and simple testing set‑ups, process and test samples where authorised, and reject or dispose of specimens safely. The role requires a high degree of dexterity and attention to detail when handling small volumes or preparing slides, accurate data entry into the laboratory computer system, routine equipment cleaning and maintenance, and participation in quality and service improvement activities such as the Leeds Improvement Method. You will also help manage consumables and stock, demonstrate tasks to new or junior staff, answer enquiries in line with procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
