If you’ve supported a partner, parent, child or close friend through complex emotional distress — often linked to a diagnosis described as ‘personality disorder’ — this Carer Peer Support Worker role in Nottingham offers a chance to turn that experience into practical help for others. You’ll use your lived experience to build trusting, recovery-focused relationships with carers, run and support carers’ groups, work alongside local mental health teams across Nottinghamshire, and help people identify and reach their own goals using active listening and strengths-based approaches. The post is permanent, part-time (salary £24,937–£26,598 pro rata), based in Nottingham (NG6 9DR) and can be emotionally demanding at times, but you’ll receive training, supervision and peer support from the Personality Disorder team and wider Trust colleagues.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest mental health and community employers in the region, with staff networks and wellbeing services that support inclusion, equality and flexible working patterns where possible — making it a supportive place for women carers seeking meaningful, part-time work. Please note successful applicants without prior NHS experience are usually placed at the bottom of the band and this role does not meet the pay/skill threshold for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. You will be required to pay for your DBS check (deducted from salary over the first two months; standard £26.40 or enhanced £54.40; DBS Update Service optional, annual £16).
