Job description
Work as a Children and Young People’s Support Worker in Blyth, supporting young people in residential settings and the community with a minimum 2:1 staffing ratio. You’ll build trusting relationships and support daily routines — from school runs, appointments and activities to bedtimes and personal care — while encouraging independence and handling challenging behaviour with calm and confidence. The role involves accurate record-keeping (emotions, routines, activities, food diaries), helping with household tasks and money management, and identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns. Full-time temporary hours are available with flexible shift patterns (8am–8pm, 8pm–8am, 8am–11pm + sleep) and block-shift bookings for long day sleep shifts; pay is £16.50–£20.00 per hour with paid mileage for every shift.
This role suits caring, professional, non-judgemental people — particularly women balancing family or caring commitments — who want meaningful, hands-on work that fits around life. Social care experience is helpful but not essential; Level 3 Health & Social Care is preferred, a valid DBS is required (support available to apply) and a driving licence is a bonus. You’ll benefit from fully funded training (including a £500 TMVA course), ongoing development and supportive supervision, and the chance to make a lasting difference. For a straightforward application, click the “Apply Now” button beside this advert — you can also find this vacancy on jobsincare.com. Closing date: 3 December 2025.
