As a Children and Young People's Support Worker with senploy in North Shields you’ll support young people in residential settings and the community, working largely on a 2:1 staffing ratio to maintain safety, stability and continuity of care. This full‑time temporary role involves day, night and sleep shifts (typical patterns include 8am–8pm, 8pm–8am and 8am–11pm plus sleep shifts), supporting routines from school runs and appointments to bedtimes and activities, encouraging independence, assisting with personal care and household tasks where needed, keeping clear daily records and identifying safeguarding concerns. You’ll need patience, emotional resilience and good written communication to manage behaviour that challenges and to record moods, food diaries, finances and incidents accurately; previous social care experience and a Level 3 qualification are advantageous but not essential, and senploy can help with DBS applications.

This role is ideal for carers who want meaningful, hands‑on work that fits around life commitments — the role particularly suits compassionate, organised people who value steady, people‑centred work and professional development. Pay ranges from £16.50–£20.00 per hour plus paid mileage for every shift, alongside fully funded training (including a £500 TMVA course), flexible block shift bookings for long sleep shifts, ongoing support and clear routes for growth; a driving licence is beneficial as placements vary.
