Job description
We are delighted to be recruiting to a full-time Clinical Associate in Psychology role within Community Child & Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) in Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire and Swindon (BSW). The base for clinical work will be within the Swindon community CAMHS team.
We are looking for applications from innovative, qualified Clinical Associates in Psychology to join our supportive psychologists and CAMHS teams to deliver a high quality, comprehensive mental health service for children, young people and their families who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAPs) are new roles developed in the NHS to provide greater access to psychologically informed mental health services. Within a specialism, CAPs have clinical expertise and professional knowledge across a range of procedures. Training involves completion of a post-graduate Clinical Associate in Psychology BPS accredited Apprenticeship, combining clinical experience, clinical supervision of practice, formal teaching, and assessment.
Ready to take the next step in your career? Apply today and join a team dedicated to improving mental health outcomes for children, young people, and their families across Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire, and Swindon!
Under the supervision of an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAPs) will work semi-autonomously within the BSW CAMHS teams. You will independently manage your own caseload, taking day-to-day responsibility for proactive care and decision-making. Within your area of expertise, you will conduct complex psychological assessments, contribute to tailored clinical formulations, and provide evidence-based, psychologically informed interventions. For particularly complex decisions or clinical risk issues you will seek consultation from their supervisor.
CAPs will also serve as a psychological resource within the team, offering training and contributing to research and evaluation activities, depending on their level of experience and competence, in collaboration with the Professional Lead for Psychology and the Service Manager(s).
Oxford Health is a great place to work and to be able to showcase the best of yourself when making an application you are encouraged to read the “candidate guide to making an application” which is attached to all roles. Please include details around qualifications (including years these were gained particularly if we need to assess for clinical roles that these are still valid) and ensure that the supporting statement is tailored to the role you are applying for and addresses the essential criteria found in the JD.
