Band 2: £23,615 to £25,674 a year Per annum (pro rata)  PERMANENT 

The post holder will work primarily within the Cardiac Investigations Unit (CIU) at James Cook but may be required to work at Friarage Hospital also. More specifically within the echocardiography team in CIU. This team is made up of trainee and qualified / specialised echocardiographers as well fellow clinical support workers and administrative staff.

Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.

Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.

Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)

Care certificate

Level 3 vocational qualification

or

Short courses and completion ofcompetency workbook equivalentto Level 3 in a range of patient andclinical care duties

and/or

Equivalent knowledge andexperience in a range of clinicalcare duties equivalent to Level 3;

- Theoretical knowledge

- Experience of a range ofcare and related procedures

- clinical observations

- knowledge of relevantlegislation

There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications

The post holder will provide support and assistance to the staff of the Cardiac Investigations Unit. This will mainly involve portering patients, medical notes and results around the hospital grounds, to ensure a fluid and efficient echocardiography service. At times you will have to assist patient dress and undress, and provide assistance to them while they are in the department. The post holder will support the echocardiography team with daily admin tasks.

  • To carry out portering duties to and from wards.
  • Liaison with cardiac physiologists, nurses and ward staff regarding the transfer of patients to and from Cardiac Investigations Unit.
  • To assist other members of the team in maximising all aspects of patient care.
  • Chaperoning, assisting patients to undress / dress within clinical areas in the Cardiac Investigations Unit.
  • Waiting with patients who need extra care.
  • Assisting patients needing the use of the bedpan / toilet.
  • Preparing examination area including the setting up of trolleys, general cleaning and stocking up.
  • Escorting patients from waiting area and delivering to appropriately prepared rooms along with documentation required for procedure.
  • Assisting cardiac physiologists and medical staff during procedure
  • Preparation of semi-invasive imaging probes (e.g. transoesophageal echocardiography probe).
