Bring practical care and calm to families on the Children's Critical Care Unit at University Hospitals of North Midlands (Royal Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent, ST2). As a Clinical Support Worker you’ll support the nursing team with essential hands-on duties: restocking and fetching supplies, cleaning wards and family rooms, laundering linen, making hot drinks and providing meals for breastfeeding mothers, carrying out daily equipment checks, admitting and discharging patients and covering ward‑clerk duties when needed. Occasionally you may assist with patient turns, basic cares or escort patients to other departments. This permanent, part‑time Band 2 role pays £24,465 per year and works mainly long day shifts (07:15–19:45, Mon–Sun) with occasional night shifts (19:15–07:45). You will work to the local Code of Conduct and complete the Trust Care Certificate.
This role suits reliable, compassionate carers who communicate well, use their own initiative and enjoy teamwork — particularly those balancing family life, caring responsibilities or returning to work. UHNM is a large, modern Trust offering development packages and a supportive, inclusive culture; a DBS check is required and evidence of basic numeracy and literacy (Trust L1) is essential, with NVQ Level 2 or equivalent desirable. Please note UHNM currently cannot provide sponsorship for this post; applicants on a graduate visa are welcome but must have at least six months remaining at the start of employment and no sponsorship will be offered at the end of the visa.
