PERMANENT
Job description
Play a hands‑on role supporting patients across south Norfolk from a base in Thetford. As a Community Technician you will visit people in their own homes, care homes, community hospitals and clinics to carry out venepuncture, capillary blood sampling (including INR testing), observations (temperature, pulse, blood pressure) and ECGs, ensuring samples are correctly labelled and delivered for processing. You will print blood requests using ICE, record visits on SystmOne, restock team supplies and work closely with GP surgeries and community colleagues. The role involves daily use of universal precautions and infection‑control procedures and offers in‑house, competency‑based phlebotomy and technician training within a supportive team in an NHS trust rated Outstanding by the CQC.
This permanent, full‑time Band 2 post (salary £24,465 pa) suits caring, practical people — especially women and those with caring experience — who are calm, observant and able to communicate with tact and empathy. You’ll need basic IT skills, GCSEs in English, Maths and Science (or equivalent), a full driving licence and access to a vehicle; previous venepuncture experience is desirable but not essential as training is provided. If you want a community‑facing role that values continuity, development and teamwork, find this vacancy on jobsincare.com and click the “Apply Now” button alongside this listing to begin your application.
