As a Complex Discharge Senior Therapist at Northampton General Hospital (NN1 5BD) you’ll work as an experienced physiotherapist or occupational therapist in a new Therapies Complex Discharge team. The role is roaming and operationally focused: you will provide advanced assessments, act as the therapy representative at daily discharge hub meetings, support escalation areas and medically‑fit wards, and lead complex discharge planning. You will manage an autonomous caseload, mentor Band 5 therapists and support workers, deputise for senior colleagues and take part in 7‑day working (including respiratory on‑call for physiotherapists). This is a full‑time Band 6, five‑month fixed‑term post over the winter; internal secondments are welcome.

This vacancy is designed for therapists who want hands‑on clinical leadership and the chance to make visible improvements to patient flow and safety. Northampton General Hospital and the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire group back clear CPD pathways, active staff networks and an inclusive workplace; the role comes with a competitive Agenda for Change salary (£38,682–£46,580 pro rata). HCPC registration and a DBS check are required and applicants needing Skilled Worker sponsorship will be considered.
