Consultant Cardiologist (Cardiac Imaging) at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, based at Royal Derby Hospital, DE22 3NE — an opportunity to shape and expand imaging services within one of the UK’s largest non-surgical heart centres serving over a million people. You’ll join a team of three imaging consultants delivering BSE‑accredited echocardiography, TOE, DSE, CT and MRI, help implement NICE CG95 guidance, and support a busy 1:7–8 general cardiology on‑call rota covering CCU and consultant‑of‑the‑week cardiology wards. The centre offers excellent facilities — three catheter labs (two PCI, one devices), a 13‑bed CCU, day‑case unit, extensive cardiology wards, strong radiology partnership for CT/MR, and close links with regional cardiothoracic centres and the University of Nottingham for teaching and NIHR research.

This post is aimed at clinicians with MBBS and MRCP (or equivalent), full GMC registration and eligibility for the Specialist Register (or within six months of CCT), fully trained across cardiac imaging (echo, CT, MR) and with a demonstrable track record in coronary angiography and pacing; Level 3 CMR/CT and dual accreditation are desirable. The permanent, full‑time consultant role offers a salary of £109,725–£145,478 (depending on experience), DBS checks and consideration of Skilled Worker sponsorship where required.
