South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust seeks a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to co-lead the North Focussed Support Team, based at the Lambeth North Living Well Centre (SW9). This integrated, multidisciplinary service—working closely with Primary Care Networks, local authorities and voluntary partners—provides medium to long-term community support that helps people recover, stay well and take part in their local communities. The role shares clinical leadership with co-consultants, offering senior medical input as an Approved Clinician and Section 12(2) doctor, and includes responsibility for an overall caseload of roughly 270–280 patients (with the team taking 11–13 new referrals a month, about half accepted), 2–4 urgent assessments weekly, 7–8 scheduled medical/CPA reviews weekly and monthly discharges of around 5–10 patients. The post is permanent, part-time, on the Consultant pay scale (£109,725–£145,478 pro rata), involves membership of the Lambeth on-call rota (1:24) with the appropriate banding supplement, and includes supervision of trainees and medical students.

This opportunity is ideal for clinicians who want to shape joined-up neighbourhood care while keeping a manageable workload and protected time for teaching, research and quality improvement. The Living Well Network Alliance is pioneering integrated models of care and offers strong mentorship via StartWell, career development, and academic links with King’s Health Partners and SLaM’s biomedical research centre. Applicants should have (or be within six months of) CCT in General Adult Psychiatry, Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status (within three months of appointment), with UK professional registration and DBS clearance required; sponsorship needs are considered.
