Consultant Psychiatrist in an Older Adult CMHT with inpatient responsibility, based in Stoke-on-Trent (Harplands Hospital). This permanent, full‑time post (salary £109,725–£145,478) involves clinic sessions in the Community Mental Health Team where follow‑up appointments are typically scheduled as four 45‑minute slots per session (30 minutes clinical, 15 minutes admin) and new assessments as 1.5‑hour slots (60 minutes clinical, 30 minutes admin). No more than one new patient is booked per session. Home visits are infrequent, arranged only when clinically necessary and take the place of a clinic session, with travel time factored in. On the inpatient side you will work with Ward 7, a 14‑bed unit at Harplands that specialises in functional disorders in older adults; the post usually carries responsibility for around seven beds (minimum four, maximum ten) supported by a full multidisciplinary team including allied health professionals, activity workers, clinical psychology and a dedicated carer support worker.

This role will suit an experienced older‑adult psychiatrist who values predictable clinics, clear admin time and collaborative working with a strong MDT. The structured session timings and the rarity of routine home visits make the job particularly attractive to clinicians with caring responsibilities — women job seekers and those balancing professional and family caring roles are encouraged to apply.
