Band 4: £26,530 to £29,114 a year per annum  PERMANENT  GOOD SALARY 

The Decontamination Department is looking to recruit a hard working, enthusiastic, flexible and motivated individual to join James Paget Hospital Decontamination team. The position of team leaders offers successful candidate the opportunity to work within a well-established and friendly team.

The Team Leader for Decontamination Services will have extensive knowledge and skills of requirements for the product in line with the ISO 13485:2standard. They will also have knowledge of all potential risk to products within a Decontamination Department. They will support the management team in ensuring staff conform to the departmental Quality Management System, hospital policy and procedures, highlighting immediately any areas of concern.

The post holder will be responsible for assessing, organising, and planning the daily workflow within the Decontamination and the Endoscopy departments to ensure maximum usage of resources.

Act as a resource to support the technicians to reduce the Departmental and individuals' non-conformances and conduct regular one to one meeting with staff and provide feedback to the Deputy Decontamination Manager.

The post holder will be expected to deputise for the Deputy Decontamination Manager in their absence with the support of the Decontamination Manager.

To undertake this role, the Team Leader must be able to root cause and report on incidences relating to product and staff.

Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department.

  • General management and supervision of the production team.
  • To assess, plan, organise and manage own workload and the workload of others, to ensure maximum utilisation of resources available on a day-to-day basis.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and co-ordination of staff within the department.
  • To provide and receive complex information and to facilitate effective communication with both departmental staff and customers.
  • To provide appropriate support for technicians and their on-going development through regular reviews of performance and yearly staff appraisals.
  • Responsibility and authority for resolving day-to-day problems and queries arising from customers and supporting the Deputy Decontamination Manager with more complex complaints investigation. Ensure delegated actions relating to complaints are completed within the specified time frames.
  • Acting-up for the Deputy Decontamination Manager in their absence, with the support of the Decontamination Manager.
  • To communicate to the production team the departments progress against agreed targets, proposed changes in activity affecting expected production levels, quality issues and general trust news.

  • Support and adapt to any changes that are implemented to improve the service.
  • Participate in Staff Development Review in accordance with Trust policy.
  • Ensure that all required checks are carried out as and when instructed to do so.
  • Participate in the audit process.
  • Ensure all applicable trust standard operating procedures and policies are followed in HSDU / EDU. E.g., Attendance Management Policy.
  1. RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESOURCES
  • Work flexibly in all areas of this multidisciplinary department, including weekends.
  • Support endoscopy emergency 24/7 provision by being part of on call team for EDU.
  • Operate all relevant equipment in accordance with department work instructions and training. Report any failures that may interfere with the service.
  • support in training staff.
  • Use resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Handle bulky items in accordance with Manual Handling training.
  • Ensure a clean, safe working environment and adherence to legislation and departmental/Trust policies.
  • Top up production area with stock, ensuring that records are kept, and stock is rotated.
  • Maintain competency in the use of specialist equipment appropriate to the clinical setting.
  1. RESPONSIBILITY FOR INFORMATION SERVICES / TRUST IT SYSTEMS
  • Ensure tracking & traceability programme is running properly, troubleshooting problems if appropriately trained to do so or reporting to management.
  • Communicate departmental issues quickly and share knowledge.
  • Accurately record all necessary information for reprocessing of medical devices
  • To use E-Roster, T Doc, Q Safe and other trust electronic systems where required.
  • conduct internal audits and participate in external audit.
