Job Overview
We are pleased to offer the position of Decontamination Technician based at our Llanwenarth Endoscopy Suite at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.
The Decontamination Technician is integral to delivering both elective and emergency procedures.
We are therefore looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated individual who is able to work within a team and is eager to learn new skills and build on existing transferable skills.
Main duties of the job
The potholder will provide a high quality service, through the preparation, production, sterilisation and delivery of ward and departmental procedure packs, along with comprehensive Theatre and Day Theatre instrument sets within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications And/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good level of general education with GCSE passes or equivalent
- Basic computer literacy
- NVQ Level 3 in decontamination or equivalent experience to include completion of the internal training MATRIX
- Completion of E-learning programme in decontamination practices principles
- Internal auditor’s qualification to ISO 90standards.
- ‘Institute of Decontamination Sciences’ Technical Certificate Course.
- ECDL qualification
- Ability to deliver practical work based training and assessment

- Professional experience of working in and applying a quality management system within a decontamination service.
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Experience of dealing with customers
- To be able to give advice, instruction, monitor staff and initiate first line corrective action
- Experience in supervising/managing staff
Essential criteria
- Effective communicator with teams and customers
- Ability to manage and respond to unplanned events.
- Ability to provide written reports on a regular basis
- The ability to liaise with people at all levels and to work cooperatively
- Ability to speak Welsh
- Proven ability of working within a decontamination area.
