Job description
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Ofsted Deputy Manager to join our team at our children’s residential home in Kempston, Bedford. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Support Worker or Team Leader who is ready to take the next step in their career and support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality, child-centred care.
As the Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the home operates to the highest standards, maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations, and supporting both the staff team and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home.
- Ensure the service meets or exceeds Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations standards.
- Lead, motivate, and supervise the staff team to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
- Promote a nurturing, safe, and supportive environment for children and young people.
- Support with staff training, supervision, and development.
- Assist in audits, care planning, and quality assurance processes.
- Take responsibility for the home in the Registered Manager’s absence.
- Build strong, professional relationships with local authorities, families, and external agencies.
Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential.
- Working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a children’s residential setting.
- Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
