Job description
Care for patients receiving haemodialysis at the Hornchurch Satellite Unit for Barts Health NHS Trust. In this hands-on role you will work as a Dialysis Support Worker (Healthcare Support Worker) within the nursing team, carrying out delegated clinical duties such as monitoring observations and vital signs, assisting with personal care and mobility, supporting nutrition and hydration, and undertaking limited procedures (blood pressure checks, ECG recording, MRSA screening and simple wound dressings). The post is suitable for experienced HCAs and people new to care: new starters receive structured support to complete Band 3 competencies and can progress into a Band 3 role within six months on successful completion, working under the supervision of a registered nurse and developing skills in a specialist renal service.
This permanent, full-time vacancy is based at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub, Hornchurch (RM12) and offers pay of £29,179–£31,312 per annum (initially placed at Band 2 until competencies are achieved). Barts Health is home to the UK’s largest renal and haemodialysis service, with strong training opportunities, an inclusive WeCare culture and clear routes for career development — a supportive environment that will especially appeal to women and carers seeking stable, skilled work. Candidates should hold a Care Certificate (or equivalent), basic literacy and numeracy qualifications and will be required to complete an online literacy and numeracy test and DBS check as part of recruitment.
