PERMANENT
Job description
Keep patients safe and comfortable each morning as a Domestic Assistant at the Countess of Chester Hospital (Chester, CH2). This permanent, part-time role (Agenda for Change Band 2, £24,465 pa pro rata) delivers a full range of cleaning duties across ward and clinical areas: cleaning bathrooms, toilets, washbasins, sluice sinks and ward equipment; clearing domestic and clinical waste using the correct colour liners; replenishing soap, hand towels and sanitisers; and cleaning kitchen areas, worktops and appliances. You will work to National Standards of Cleaning, carry out regular sanitary checks and, after in‑house training, be expected to plan and organise cleaning programmes with your Domestic Supervisor. Typical shifts are early mornings — Monday to Friday and weekends with options such as 5am–8am or 6am–9am — offering predictable hours that suit family and caring commitments.
This role is ideal for caring, organised people — especially women returning to work, part-time carers or anyone who values routine mornings and a supportive team culture. Basic numeracy and literacy are required; cleaning experience is useful and knowledge of COSHH, NHS colour coding or infection prevention is desirable, but full induction and training are provided. Please note a DBS check is required and the cost will be deducted from salary over the first three months; recruitment is based on competence and values. To apply, click the “Apply Now” button on this listing — the vacancy is also promoted on jobsincare.com.
