Job description
The purpose is to carry out failsafe activities that ensure the complex screening loop is closed, thereby meeting National Standards and most importantly reducing risk of harm or missed screening to mothers and babies for which United Lincolnshire NHS Hospitals Trust are responsible.
Please note this vacancy is not due to start until April 2025.
Accurate and methodical collation of data and entry to databases or national systems, to evidence and ensure that all women and their babies are offered Antenatal and newborn screening.
This includes having a wide knowledge of the complexities of the screening pathways across primary and secondary care, to aide investigation where things go wrong.
The failsafe officer needs to understand the complexities and screening pathways of the below screening programmes:
Haemoglobinopathies (Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia)
Infectious Diseases (HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis)
Trisomy Screening (Down's, Edward's and Patau's syndrome)
Fetal Anomaly
Newborn Bloodspot (NBBS)
Newborn Physical Examination (NIPE).
