Our mission is to work towards being led by people with Learning Disabilities and autistic people to deliver high-quality housing, support and activities in their local communities. The people we support tell us that they want “good support from kind and friendly people” – so that is what we are looking for! We are looking to recruit a Flexible Support Worker to provide cover support for annual leave, sickness and training and to generally cover gaps in our services where we need to recruit to some of our already established support services. No set rota working with varied people we support, working in different services supported living + community support, some weekend work required Brief outline of the role: Your role will be to support people with learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs with day-to-day tasks in either our supported living houses or out in the community supporting people to live independently in their own homes. We support people with all aspects of their lives, such as daily living skills, medication, personal care and finances as well as accessing community activities. You will need to have good communication skills and just enjoy spending time with people. You will need to have some technical competency in computer/mobile use our system. We are looking for people who are patient, compassionate, understanding and able to use their own initiative. It is a rewarding and varied role and one that really makes a difference to the lives of the people we support. It helps them to live a fulfilled life and achieve their goals and dreams with a little help from people who care. Some learning disability and/or caring experience in supporting people either professionally or personally is preferred for this role. From the person we support on the types of people they want directly supporting them, or generally working for us: Patience / fun / caring / understanding / being listened to / going out and about in the community together and helping me to try new things / help to look after myself and cook and clean with me / let me try things for myself before attempting to do things for me!
