As General Practice Assistant with Heeley Plus Primary Care Network, you’ll be part of a friendly, forward-thinking team spanning seven GP practices based at Sharrow Lane Medical Centre, Sheffield (S11). The role blends clinical and administrative support across PCN and practice clinics — women’s health, chronic pain, diabetes, mental health support groups (daytime and occasional evenings), learning disability health checks, immunisations and cardiovascular prevention. You’ll proactively contact patients, reach out to non-responders and frequent attenders, act as a cancer screening champion to improve uptake (bowel, breast and cervical), and support smooth care by attending MDTs and covering reception duties when needed. Practical clinical duties include urine dips, blood pressure checks, ECGs and phlebotomy (phlebotomy is essential), plus promoting healthy lifestyles in-practice and at community drop-ins. The role will grow and adapt over time and the PCN offers training and a culture that values manageable, meaningful work and strong local partnerships.

This permanent, full-time post pays £25,350 a year and requires GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent); desirable qualifications include a GP Assistant certificate, Care Certificate or GCSE Science. Experience of working or volunteering in healthcare or community settings is important, and familiarity with SystmOne/EMIS is beneficial. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. The role is ideal for compassionate carers and women returning to the workforce who want a hands-on patient-facing position with scope to develop clinically and within community outreach — applicants of all backgrounds are welcome. Interview date: 28th November. Full details are listed on jobsincare.com; click the “Apply Now” button alongside this advert to submit your application.
