Job description
HCA (Maternity Cover) at The Surgery @ Wheatbridge, Chesterfield (S40) — 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, fixed‑term 12 months. You will work under the supervision of the practice nurses and support GPs in delivering patient care across a range of clinical clinics: phlebotomy, 24‑hour ambulatory BP monitoring, CVD and new‑patient health checks, ECGs, urinalysis, ear syringing, weight management and spirometry, plus routine vaccine support (B12, flu, pneumococcal) where trained. Day‑to‑day duties include preparing and restocking consulting rooms, infection‑control and sharps management, assisting with minor procedures, chaperoning and delegated care for named patients, data collection for recalls and quality work. Pay starts at £13.80 per hour (negotiable dependent on experience); the role requires relevant experience in a healthcare setting or GP practice, GCSEs in English and Maths (grade 4/C or above), Care Certificate and a DBS check.
This post is ideal for caring, organised people — particularly women carers who value predictable weekday hours and a supportive practice. The Surgery @ Wheatbridge is a modern, single‑site, CQC‑rated Good practice with on‑site free parking, a pharmacy next door, SystmOne training practice status and monthly QUEST training sessions to build skills and confidence. You’ll find an open‑door admin team, a clear focus on infection control and patient confidentiality, and opportunities to develop phlebotomy, ECG and vaccination competencies.
