Band 8c: £74,290 to £85,601 a year plus high cost allowance  PERMANENT  GOOD SALARY 

The Head of Midwifery is responsible for the overall operational management of the maternity service within the acute and community settings with specific responsibilities for service planning, organisational development, performance and financial management

They are responsible for ensuring that optimum standards of care are met through the effective management of human, financial and physical resources

As a senior manager for the Maternity Services and professional advisor to the Director of Midwifery, the post holder will be a key stakeholder in the management of change within the service and wider division

They will devise, consult on and implement the strategic development of midwifery within the Trust, in consultation with the divisional triumvirate and Director of Midwifery

They will provide innovative professional leadership, advice and guidance for midwifery both internally and externally to the Trust. Ensure the professional contributions of midwives is maximised in order to achieve the Trust's business and strategic goals, in accordance with service user's needs, national and locally determined professional standards

In conjunction with the Head of Nursing for Paediatrics, they will take responsibility for the effective interface with Neonatal Services, in relation to governance, patient flow, service developments

They will develop and empower midwives to respond to the National Midwifery agenda and ensure implementation of evidence-based care in clinical practice

They will develop midwifery education and training in conjunction with the educational provider, for both new entrants to midwifery profession and continuous professional development.

Ensuring that all midwifery practice is consistent with the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Rules and Code of Practice.

Ensuring high standards of compliance and good governance with regards to CNST standards, audit, complaints and concerns, as well as adverse incident reviews and management.
