Job Summary
We have an exciting vacancy for experienced Health Care Assistants to join our bank working across our Extended Primary Integrated Care Services (EPIC).
Please only apply for this role if you have completed the Care Certificate or are competent to perform phlebotomy, BP, weight, urinalysis.
Our Health Care Assistants work across our sites to support our care navigators with taking observations in the emergency department, or working in our phlebotomy service at our clinical hub or on home visits.
This role will suit an individual who wants flexibility of shifts and enjoys working in a fast paced environment.
Main duties of the job
Main duties will include supporting care navigators in the emergency department with taking and documenting patient observations. The role will also include working at the clinical hub or independently on home visits to work in phlebotomy clinics and as the service develops completing NHS Health Checks.

Job responsibilities
Purpose of the RoleThe post holder will work both independently as a Health Care Assistant and to support the wider EPIC services to ensure the highest standards of care for all patients accessing our services. They will be responsible for providing health care and phlebotomy services to patients across both enhanced access and urgent care services.
Key Responsibilities & Duties of the RolePatient Services
You must take reasonable care of your own health, safety and wellbeing, and that of your colleagues, in accordance with the Health and Safety policy.
You are required to uphold the confidentiality of all records held by SPCT, whether they are patient records, employee records or management information.
Comply with all SPCT policies and procedures, identifying improvements where appropriate
To understand how to use the Ulysses reporting system and understand the Incident Reporting Policy and procedures, including all Safeguarding policies, procedures and reporting pathways.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
Safeguarding is everyones responsibility. Employees must at all times have regards for the need to safeguard, inclusive of Modern day Slavery and Human Trafficking and promote the welfare of children and adults at risk in line with legislation. Employees of SPCT must follow all safeguarding policies and procedures and reporting mechanisms to raise safeguarding concerns and keepup to date with safeguarding training as required.

- To undertake nursing and therapy tasks under the direction of a qualified practitioner, including venepuncture, ECG measurement, blood pressure measurement, urinalysis, health checks, assessment of risk factors, and lifestyle advice.
- Making every contact count. Front line staff are in an ideal position to offer support and advice on how to improve health and wellbeing. Staff will be given training and support to help them signpost people to other services.
- To access the patient electronic record to read and write back service delivery records.
- Support the provision of EPIC Services and promote the fulfilment of the rota.
- To monitor stock levels and ensure stock are ordered and maintained/controlled as required.
- To attend departmental meetings as required.
- Ensure that effective communication with patients and staff is maintained.
- Provide reassurance to patients when providing care gaining consent by using empathy and persuasive skills.
- Ability to communicate with patients with learning/ language disabilities.
- Ability to communicate with challenging or confused patients.
- To highlight any areas of concern or improvement to line management.
