Job Summary
It is an exciting time withincommunity sexual & reproductive health services in Lewisham as integrated contraception, sexual & reproductive health and GUM services continue to develop. We are looking for a full time sexual health administrator/health care assistant.
The successful candidate will work as a member of a multi disciplinary team. You will be an enthusiastic, reliable, non-judgemental individual, possessing good organisational and communication skills.
Evening and weekend working will be required. Although the main base is Waldron Health Centre, the post holder will be expected to work at the other Community Sexual Health clinic at Hawstead Road Primary Care Centre

There will be a training programme to ensure that you are supported to deliver confidential high quality care.
The post holder will work to ensure smooth running of a very busy clinic by;

Main duties of the job
There will be a training programme to ensure that you are supported to deliver confidential high quality care.
The post holder will work to ensure smooth running of a very busy clinic by;
- Ensuring that the clinic is managed efficiently and that any concerns are escalated appropriately..
- Supporting the management and processing of results to specific guidelines.
- Managing and reporting issues with reference to relevant policies and procedures.
- Cleaning and stocking the clinical area ensuring stock levels are maintained.
- Ensuring specimens are packed and transported to lab appropriately.
- Chaperoning patients during intimate examinations and providing aftercare for those who require it.
- Assisting clinicians in tasks and procedures.
- Taking blood (phlebotomy skills desirable but not essential as training will be provided)
- Supporting the delivery of asymptomatic infection screening.
- Providing microscopy (skills desirable but not essential as training will be provided

- Care Certificate attainment
- Effective written and verbal communication, literacy, numeracy, and IT skills to a minimum of Level 1 Maths and English
- Experience of dealing with the general public.
- Experience of working in a health or social care environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- A requirement to be punctual and reliable
- Ability to follow a clear instruction and feed back to senior staff.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills/literacy/ numeracy skills
- Good observation skills and recognition of the importance of reporting
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative.
- Completion of in-house Trust mandatory training requirements
- Care certificate attainment
- Awareness, understanding and compliance of policies and practices
- Willingness to continue to develop knowledge and practice through a combination of instruction, on the job learning, attending teaching sessions and study days, where appropriate.
