Join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as a Healthcare Support Worker and become part of a vibrant, compassionate team delivering acute patient-centred care across our five hospitals and community services. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role within the multidisciplinary team, working under the guidance and supervision of registered nurses, midwives, or nurse associates. You will undertake a range of delegated clinical care duties, including patient observations, assisting with personal care, supporting nutrition and hydration, and maintaining a safe and dignified environment for patients. Please note:This position is advertised at Band 3. However, applicants who do not yet meet the required Care Certificate competencies will be appointed at Band 2 while undertaking our New to Care training programme. Upon successful completion of the programme, they will progress to Band 3. Applicants who already hold NHS-recognised Care Certificate accreditation will be appointed directly at Band 3. • Band 2 salary range:£24,465 • Band 3 salary range:£24,937 Your responsibilities may include: • Recording and escalating patient physiological observations (e.g., blood pressure, blood glucose, temperature, heart rate, pain score, NEWS score) • Assisting with clinical procedures such as venepuncture, cannulation, wound dressings, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, and removal of catheters or cannulas • Supporting patients with mobility, repositioning, and daily hygiene maintenance • Providing one-to-one care for patients requiring enhanced support, including end-of-life care • Acting as a patient advocate and involving patients and carers in the delivery of care • Maintaining accurate records of patient care, nutrition, fluid intake/output, and other observations using both written and electronic systems • Upholding Trust values: Kind, Collaborative, Expert, and Aspirational in all interactions What we’re looking for: • Completed Care Certificate or equivalent experience, with evidence of literacy, numeracy, and communication skills in English (GCSE or equivalent) • Experience working in a care setting environment, ideally in a Band 2 HCSW role or equivalent • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and respond calmly under pressure • Motivation, reliability, caring attitude, and respect for equality, diversity, and inclusion • Willingness to undertake further training, including mandatory and role-specific courses (e.g., BEACH, venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation) • Good time management and flexibility to work across different wards or departments as needed If you are caring, kind, and calm under pressure, and you are looking for a role where you can truly make a difference, we would love to hear from you.
