Job description
The EYES/ENT has an opening for a Band 2 HCA at Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals, as well as community clinics. The post holder will support the department. We seek experienced, motivated, and proactive individuals to join our team.
The HCA will aid the EYES/ENT department and outpatient teams, ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical services. Responsibilities include data entry, visual field testing, vision acuity, assisting nursing and professional bodies and general patient care and
support. You will prepare patients, perform basic tests and procedures, and provide reports and evaluations for clinical review.
Our comprehensive ophthalmology services are provided by Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Optometrists, and Ophthalmic-trained nurses, covering general and specialty clinics such as Paediatrics, Ocular-motility, Botulinum Toxin, AMD, Diabetic, Glaucoma, Medical Retinal,
Oculoplastic, and Corneal
The post holder will support the EYS/ENT and outpatient teams for the provision and overall smooth running of our clinical services. You will have responsibility for preparing our patients and undertaking their investigations, performing a range of basic tests (Visual Fields, etc.) and procedures (Visual acuity, eye pressure, dilating drops etc.) as well as providing the reports and baseline evaluations for review by other clinical staff. The post holder will also have the responsibility in supporting the Clinic Staff in setting up clinics for Ophthalmology and ENT. The post holder will also be trained to support the ENT Outpatient service as part of their role.
You will receive training and when relevant competencies have been achieved you will be required to attend peripheral clinic and hospital sites to deliver the required clinical care. Therefore, a willingness and capacity to travel to Mount Vernon and Community sites will be required, as well as the ability to provide services on days across the whole week, including weekends when required.
You will be required to communicate in an empathetic manner with patients, relatives and carers who may be emotionally distressed or who may have barriers to understanding, such as learning difficulties, language, hearing difficulties or visual impairment and to children and babies.
In summary, you will assist in the provision of a high standard of ophthalmic and personal care ensuring the smooth running of our clinics.
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services.
