Work as a Healthcare Assistant on Ward 10, a 24‑bed nurse‑led step‑down unit at Bishop Auckland General Hospital (County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust). You will support Registered Nurses to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care for people with nursing needs: admitting patients and recording baseline observations, assisting with personal care (hygiene, mobility, nutrition and comfort), supporting eating and drinking and completing food and fluid charts, carrying out ward‑specific clinical tasks (for example phlebotomy, ECGs and simple dressings), recognising and reporting changes in condition, and helping with transfers, discharges and maintaining treatment areas. The role suits caring, reliable people — particularly women carers or those returning to work — who communicate well, use their initiative and want practical, hands‑on work that makes a real difference to patients.

This is a permanent, full‑time Band 3 post (Agenda for Change) with a salary of £24,465–£26,598 pro rata. An NVQ Level 2 in Care is essential; if you are new to care you will complete the Care Certificate on starting (you will be on Annex 21 pay arrangements until completion). The post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check and the ability to provide required certificates; visa holders should check eligibility as sponsorship is restricted. The unit is friendly and supportive, offers clinical supervision, ongoing training and clear development routes across the Trust’s hospitals and community services.
