Job description
As a Healthcare Assistant with Practice Plus Group’s Health in Justice team at HMP YOI Moorland (Hatfield, Doncaster, DN7), you will provide hands‑on clinical support across physical health, mental health, pharmacy and substance misuse services. Working closely with nurses and nursing associates, your duties will include assisting with clinical observations, vaccination clinics, medication and discharge support, contributing to personalised, non‑judgemental care and health promotion. This is a full‑time, permanent role of 37.5 hours per week on a fortnightly rotational rota (Week 1: Mon, Tue, Sat, Sun; Week 2: Wed, Thu, Fri) with 12‑hour day or night shifts (07:30–19:30 or 19:30–07:30). The post is based in a secure category C men’s prison and young offenders’ institution and, because of the setting, employment is subject to enhanced vetting, DBS checks and proof of the legal right to work in the UK.
No NVQ is required to start — Practice Plus Group offers a bespoke induction including the Introducing Health in Justice course, on‑line learning and support to achieve qualifications as you develop. The role pays up to £29,723 a year (depending on experience) and includes a company pension, 25 days’ annual leave rising with service plus bank holidays, wellbeing benefits, discounts and a 24/7 employee assistance helpline. With regional and national career pathways across more than 50 secure sites, this opportunity particularly suits compassionate, organised people — including women and those with caring experience — who want steady hours, strong team support and clear development prospects.
