The Health Care Assistant within the Nursing team at Fieldhead Surgery as well as being an integral part of the wider practice team.

The principal task is to support registered nurses to enable them to be able to focus on the more complex clinical care of patients. a. Undertake new patient health checksb. Support the Practice Nurses with health promotion programmesc. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accuratelyd. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordinglye. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as requiredf. Support the Practice Nurses with the management of chronic disease clinics by undertaking HCA Long Term Condition reviewsg. Carry out BMI checks as directedh. Act as a chaperone as requiredi. When trained, undertake venepuncturej. When trained, administer flu vaccinationsk. Carry out ECGs as requestedl. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportationm. Provide support during minor operations as requiredn. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each sessiono. Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidancep. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the organisations IPC policyq. Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriateIn addition to the primary responsibilities, the Healthcare Assistant may be requested to:a.
