Foundry Lane Surgery is looking to appoint an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our supportive, friendly general practice team based in East Leeds.

This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced HCA with a Primary or Secondary care background.

Working Hours = 28 hrs pw

Working pattern:-

Monday

8.30am - 12.30pm

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

8am - 4.30pm

Start date: - ASAP

Job responsibilities include:-

* Phlebotomy

* Long term condition health checks

* NHS health checks

* ECG recording

* Blood pressure monitoring

* Chaperoning duties

* Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

* Equipment re-stocking, stock rotation including clinical waste removal in line with IPC practice policy

* Prepare, maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care including assisting GPs during minor procedures

* Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

* Participate in training to meet the needs of the practice

* Attend target events appropriate to job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated, flexible, and reliable HCA to support the practice nursing team in the delivery of care within their scope of practice.

The successful candidate should be able to work independently as well as part of a team, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

About us

To support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.

The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

The following are the core responsibilities of the HCA. However, there may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staff levels:-

* Undertake new patient health checks

* Support the practice nursing team with health promotion programmes

- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, record findings accurately

- Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

- Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required

- Support the practice nurse(s) with the management of chronic disease clinics

- Carry out BMI checks as directed

- Act as chaperone as required
