You will have the opportunity to work with plastic surgery patients and have the opportunity to learn about wound care and post operative care for a large variety of plastic surgery operations. Stock Ward is a busy Plastic Surgery ward. We have a wonderfully friendly team and are currently looking to recruit a Health Care Assistant or Support Worker. The ward consists of 24 inpatient beds and with complex plastic surgery requirements. The team is really supportive and there are many learning opportunities for the right candidate. Stock Ward is located within the world renowned St Andrews Centre and is a regional unit for Trauma. We work very closely with the Trauma Unit taking over the clinic out of hours to maintain a 24 hour service. Your responsibilities will include: • Assisting with daily living activities such as eating, showering and using the toilet • Utilising equipment to move patients when necessary • Taking the patient’s vital signs such as blood pressure and temperature both pre and post operatively • Talking to patients and reassuring them • Assisting nurses and other staff when needed • Adhering to professional standards The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) brings together key health, care, community, and voluntary sector organisations from across our area. Our aim is to work together in partnership to join up health and care services, improving our populations health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities. One such example of this collaborative work is the launch of our HCA Academy, an ICS initiative between Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) to support the incoming Health Care assistant (HCA) workforce. The academy models a ‘one workforce’ cross system approach to the onboarding, induction, education, and experience of Healthcare Assistants. Successful candidates to this role will be able to access the additional support provided by the HCA Academy following their induction with MSEFT.
