Flitwick Surgery is a busy practice looking for a reliable,

Experience
d phlebotomist or healthcare assistant to join our nursing team on a part time, permanent basis for 2 days per week (most likely a Monday and a Friday but this is subject to change). The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-moving environment and enjoy regular patient contact.The successful applicant will be able to deliver excellent patient care, positively representing the practice and strengthening the relationship between patients and the surgery.We would be willing to support eligible candidates with training if they did not have the skill set for this role. Main duties of the job
Phlebotomy and sample management.Wound management, dressing and suture removal.Taking clinical measurements such as blood pressure, foot checks and other physiological readings.Performing ECGs and taking Peak flow readings and Spirometry/Feno (if qualified and training will provided if not).Supporting long term condition management by performing diabetic health checks to include foot checks and for respiratory conditions takings peak flow, Spirometry and Feno (training will be provided if required).Health promotion and checks would form part of the role with the post holder providing support and encouragement to help patients self-manage their health and conditions.Administer the influenza, covid and pneumococcal vaccine under supervision.Administer B12 injections.Monitor nursing and practice clinical stocks and support in the ordering of nursing supplies.Undertake and maintain records of cold chain checks and other monitoring checks as required.

Flitwick is a busy surgery serving a practice population of 14,250 patients. Run as a partnership the clinical team consists of GPs, ANPs/minor illness nurses, a Paramedic, Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, and HCAs. We are also a training practice for GPs and also take part in medical research. We also are part of a PCN Green Vale Health. As a commuter town in rural Bedfordshire, the practice population is diverse, seeing patients of all life stages.
