Caregivers looking for a practical, hands‑on nursing role will find meaningful work as a Healthcare Support Worker at HMP Haverigg with Spectrum Community Health CIC. You will work under the delegated authority of a Registered Nurse as part of a multi‑disciplinary healthcare team in a secure prison setting, delivering non‑judgemental, individualised care across primary care, mental health and substance‑misuse services. Day‑to‑day duties include reception screening and managing the patient journey from arrival to discharge, carrying out physical observations, supporting clinics (phlebotomy, ECG and NHS Health Checks), sexual health and health promotion, and joining the emergency response team when required. The role involves supporting people through low‑level mental ill‑health and withdrawal in line with agreed care plans and practising Spectrum’s values of Working Together, Integrity, Respect and Recognition, Compassion and Innovation.

This permanent, full‑time Band 3 post is based at HMP Haverigg, Millom (LA18) and pays £24,937–£26,598 per annum, with access to the NHS Pension, up to 33 days’ annual leave, flexible working options, training and development, wellbeing support and other staff benefits. It’s ideal for experienced carers, those with an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or the NHS Care Certificate, or final‑year nursing students who want to progress in Health and Justice care; experience with SystmOne or working in secure settings is desirable.
