Job description
Cathays Surgery in Cathays, Cardiff (CF24) is looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant / Healthcare Support Worker for a permanent, part‑time role (2 mornings per week). The post suits someone confident in core primary care clinical duties — phlebotomy, blood pressure and ECG checks, injections and routine immunisations (flu, pneumococcal, shingles), wound dressing and suture removal, INR testing, learning‑disability checks, lifestyle and smoking‑cessation advice, and diabetic checks ahead of nurse review. You will also support chronic disease management, carry out stock and equipment checks, keep clinical rooms organised, manage clinical waste and undertake other administrative tasks; taking on specific roles such as flu champion is encouraged. Familiarity with EMIS is desirable and salary is negotiable, with membership of the NHS Pension Scheme offered.
This role is ideal for compassionate carers and people who value a supportive, teaching practice environment — the surgery has five GPs, strong clinical and administrative support, an open‑door mentoring culture and regular informal team meetings. Applicants should hold an Agored Cymru Level 3 Diploma in Primary Care Health Care Support (or equivalent), have previous GP surgery experience, meet the HCSW Code of Conduct and be willing to undergo a DBS check. If you want a hands‑on, person‑centred role that fits around family or caring responsibilities and offers training opportunities, find this vacancy on jobsincare.com and click the "Apply Now" button to submit your application.
