We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Assistant to join the Women’s Health Research Team at UCLH. This role supports the delivery of the Generations Study, which aims to screen newborns for approximately 200 rare conditions at birth using umbilical cord blood samples. This pioneering research involves approaching potential participants during their pregnancy and providing comprehensive counselling about the study.

Key Responsibilities


  • Assist in the screening of patient eligibility in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Obtain informed consent for enrolment in the study.
  • Handle sample processing, including documentation, storage, and transportation according to study protocols and Trust standard operating procedures. This includes handling human tissues and bodily fluids.
  • Coordinate tests, obtain results, and arrange transport and documentation of specific specimens.
