Spectrum Community Health CIC provides a range of award-winning healthcare services on behalf of the NHS, Local Authority Public Health services, and other partners across substance misuse, sexual health, and health and justice settings.
The post holder will, under the guidance of the Pharmacy Manager (Prison Healthcare) and Pharmacy Technician (Prison Healthcare), assist in the provision of a safe, efficient and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to prisoners.

Operational service delivery

  • To assist the Spectrum Community Health (SCH) prison pharmacy team to deliver pharmacy services to ensure continuity of supply of medicines
  • To contribute to the timely and efficient supply of dispensed medicines to

prisoners

  • To work within locally approved policies and standard operating procedures
  • To assist the prison pharmacy team in the review of repeat prescribing

systems and assisting prison healthcare staff in the implementation of

improvements that ensure robust systems are in place

  • To assist the prison pharmacy team in responding to all major MHRA drug

alerts through facilitation of appropriate action within prison healthcare over an appropriate timeframe and to support any medication changes that occur as a result

  • To assist the prison pharmacy team in undertaking clinical audit and sharing the outcomes of the audits, in order to facilitate improvement and changes in practice
  • To assist the prison pharmacy team with preparing user-friendly resources and information that support health professionals in the implementation of national guidance and promotes rational, cost-effective prescribing e.g. Medicines bulletin, prescribing tips
