We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Social Work Assistant, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £15.43 - £19.30 per hour

Summary:

  • Assisting adults (with learning disabilities) to resolve major difficulties in their lives and to live as independently as possible, supporting those we work with to achieve their goals
  • Providing a direct service to adults with learning disabilities and their families/carers in line with the relevant legislation, council policy and procedures
  • Working positively with other agencies such as health, third sector, housing and police where needed, to ensure an appropriate multi agency approach and to support people to speak for themselves


Responsibilities:

  • To work in partnership with individuals, and involved networks to help them identify strengths, needs and outcomes
  • To support individuals to maximise their independence and coping skills
  • To undertake assessments including wellbeing assessments and risk assessments with individuals and their networks, whilst considering outcomes, available resources, policy and legislation
  • To undertake non-complex capacity assessments
  • To make recommendations regarding packages of care to meet identified needs, considering the flexible use of all available resources to meet identified needs


Qualifications:

  • GSCEs including maths & English,
  • Post GCSE level Qualification


Experience:

  • Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and autism
  • Understanding of the social model of disability

Additionally, while formal qualifications may not always be necessary to become a Social Work Assistant, having a relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care can be advantageous. Some roles may also require you to have experience in social care or a related field.
