An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Ellis Ward team as Band 6 Practice Educator.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed experienced band 6 nurse who also has a passion for teaching, assessing and supporting staff in practice to join the Ellis Ward team. Ellis ward is a 14 bed female unit that cares for patients undergoing surgical, medical, radiotherapy and symptom control treatment for a range of tumour groups including gynaecology, breast, sarcoma and gastrointestinal.
The candidate will have excellent interpersonal and clinical skills and be able to provide the high-quality patient centred care as well as demonstrate leadership and management skills. You must have experience working in a busy environment, being able to manage a complex workload, supporting student nurses and providing ward-based education sessions.
The candidate must be competent with Clinical skills that support the development of the team, including Venepuncture/Cannulation/IV medicine Management/Epidural care and SACT administration. Additionally they candidate must have experience in clinical competency training and assessment.
There are a range of professional development opportunities that will be available to you while on Ellis ward including working closely with members of the multiple disciplinary team, leadership and management courses and clinical skill education days.
To assist the ward Sister in creating and maintaining a safe, therapeutic clinical environment for all patients and their families who come to the area. The post-holder will work with the ward Sister to co-ordinate all functions and activities to ensure a smooth running service to patients and their families.
To assist the Ward Sister in managing resources within the clinical area in a cost effective way. This includes maintaining and monitoring equipment and being proactive in managing staff rosters to minimise the use of temporary staffing.
