The post holder will be an integrated and valued member of the existing Colorectal Cancer Specialist Nursing Team helping to support colorectal cancer patients across the pathway.
You will need to be flexible and adaptable with excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to work at pace, improve patient experience and be willing to develop and improve the service.
The ideal candidate will have post registration experience. Oncology nursing or endoscopy experience would be an advantage, but demonstrable transferrable skills will be considered for the right candidate.
The post holder must be enthusiastic and motivated to deliver the highest standards of care and support to colorectal patients from initial referral right across the pathway.

Main duties of the jobThe Colorectal Support/Straight to test nurse will be a core member of the Multi-disciplinary Team providing direct and indirect support and advice to colorectal cancer patients and their carers working as a key member of the established CNS team. The Colorectal Support/STT nurse will be the first contact from the hospital the patient receives.
The post-holder will deliver an expert, specialist service to patients who have been referred on the suspected colorectal cancer pathway, as well as those patients who have been diagnosed with a colorectal cancer

- The post holder will be expected to attend and actively participate in the colorectal MDM as part of the colorectal CNS team in delivering a seamless service to patients
- Accept and make appropriate referrals from/to other professional colleagues and groups, as well as external agencies. Check and interpret referrals and take action as clinically indicated.
- Sensitively handle difficult situations that often arise involving patients, carers and health care professionals.
- Communicate highly sensitive information - i.e. results of tests and investigations - to patients and carers in a clear and empathetic manner.
