The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) at LIPS. Healthcare is a vital member of the team, contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care and Consultant relationships. The role involves providing support to healthcare professionals, ensuring efficient patient flow, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment within the clinic. Staff are multi skilled in this diverse role incorporating clinic support, patient care and front and back of house services.
The role involves effective communication with patients and colleagues, meticulous documentation, and active participation in quality improvement initiatives. Being able to promote an excellent patient experience in a private care setting with attention to detail and impressing key stakeholders such as Consultants and ensuring the clam and effective running of the service on a day to day basis.
Job Role:
Patient care:
- Greet and assist patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
- Escort patients to examination rooms and assist with their comfort and needs.
- Support healthcare professionals during patient examinations. tests and procedures.
- Manage concerns raised by patients, visitors and staff in a proactive, timely fashion and take remedial actions as necessary
- Support effective stock management , ordering and ensuring clinical supplies in place for services
- Understand products and services to support patients , making appointments and understanding clinic management.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Develop effective communication with consultants and clinic service providers.
- Offer care and compassion for patients with concerns and questions.

Quality Improvement:
- Understand the LIPS. Strategy and develop performance and services to support Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.

- Assist with minor medical procedures under the direction of healthcare professionals
Adherence to Policies and Procedures:
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain infection control standards within LIPS.healthcare
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic systems.
- Coordinate appointment schedules and manage patient flow efficiently.
- Ensure completion of all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
- Take payments
Equipment Management:
- Ensure proper functioning of medical equipment and report any issues promptly.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment for various procedures.
- Maintain up to date equipment records
- Ensure equipment is regularly maintained and be competent and able to use equipment safely and correctly
Infection Control:
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures rigorously.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment to minimise infection risks.
- Always follow proper hand hygiene protocols.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) is preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience Independent sector/ Private Patient experience Outpatient experience Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in an outpatient setting is desirable. Familiarity with medical terminology and outpatient procedures.
