The post involves working as part of a team under the supervision and guidance of registered midwives. This will be a rotational post working in all areas including the Delivery Suite and Delivery Suite Theatre, Postnatal Ward and Antenatal Department.
The work is very challenging and demanding, involving long shifts, night shifts and weekend work but is also enormously rewarding. You will be helping to provide care for women at an incredibly sensitive and emotional time and you will need to have good communication skills and demonstrate great sensitivity.

Maternity Care Assistants enjoy a career which offers opportunities for further development and training within their role. In addition, there are limited numbers of secondments available for exceptional individuals who excel in the maternity care to undertake midwifery training at Brighton University after completing a minimum service of one year at the Trust.
