Clinical Psychologist - Looked After Children and Care Leavers



Location: Wolverhampton



We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team, focusing on improving the emotional health and wellbeing of Looked After Children and Care Leavers as part of the Staying Close project. This role is essential in providing direct support and guidance, working closely with children, foster families, residential carers, social workers, and multi-disciplinary teams.



Key Responsibilities


  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions to support the mental health needs of children and young people involved in the Staying Close project.
  • Offer consultative support and training to foster carers and residential staff.
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to develop and implement Staying Close plans that promote secure attachments and prevent placement breakdowns.
  • Conduct risk assessments and contribute to a psychologically-based framework of care across all settings.


Requirements


  • Degree in Psychology or a related field; registration with an appropriate professional body.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working with children, young people, and families.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in multi-agency collaboration.
  • Knowledge of Care Planning and the Staying Close model is desirable.
