Job summaryAre you looking for a change, if so have you considered working in our busy Minor Injury Unit at Ripon Hospital. We are looking to recruit an experienced Clinical Support Worker who is highly motivated and enthusiastic to join our small team. Working alongside our Urgent Care Practitioners you will play a key role in delivering the minor injury service.
The successful candidates will be flexible, able to work effectively as part of a team and manage the pressure of working in busy environments. You must be passionate about providing an excellent experience for patients.
Previous experience working as a Clinical Support Worker is preferrable ideally with an acute/urgent care background, however training can be supported for the right candidate.
Band 2/3 will be dependant on experience.
Main duties of the jobMain duties of the job
- Undertake observations of the patients' condition using adult/ paediatric/maternity observations/ national early warning scores and then ensure that the results are reported to the clinician for action e.g:
- Temperature
- Pulse
- Blood Pressure
- Oxygen Saturations (Pulse Oximetry)
- Blood Glucose Levels
- Respirations
- Pain assessment
- Reports any abnormalities to a clinician and recognise and responds appropriately in emergency situations.
- Following assessment of the patient by the clinician/practitioner performs the following;
- Simple dressing changes
- Phlebotomy
- Performs pregnancy testing
- Performs urine testing - and sends for microscopy under instruction
- Recording of patients attending the department by:
- booking patients into a patient management system.
- ensuring all required data is accurately recorded when available.
- collating and distributing the resulting documentation speedily and efficiently
