The Acute Medicine therapy team covers a large footprint in the hospital with different specialities such as gastroenterology, respiratory, cardiology, general medicine, renal and care of the elderly. You will be supporting patients on their clinical pathway working alongside a multi-disciplinary team to optimise care and deliver rehabilitation interventions and discharge planning. There will be the opportunity to participate and contribute to different 'big rooms' such as falls prevention, deconditioning and kidney care.

Main duties of the job

We already have a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist with an interest in rehab, a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and a Deconditioning Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist within the team. Our missing piece of the jigsaw is respiratory so we were hoping that would be your bag!

Your role will see you supporting the team to manage their demanding caseloads whilst ensuring delivery of a high quality service across the acute medical setting, including assessment and treatment of acute medical patients and facilitating discharge planning as appropriate.

There will be a balance between clinical and non-clinical responsibilities with a focus on service and quality improvement and supporting training and development of staff. You will be welcomed into a supportive environment with a clear supervision structure through which personal and professional development is encouraged. You will have opportunities to develop your leadership and management skills with support from the Therapy Service Lead for Acute Medicine.

About us

We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You'll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you'd never have done. You'll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You'll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
