Job summaryWe are pleased to be able to offer an Advanced Nurse Practitioner role within our Neonatal Department. As a senior member of the team you will provide skilled and experienced intervention and would be integral in our ambitionto develop and embed this role at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Main duties of the jobThe Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) will work autonomously within the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide direct clinical care and management for babies and their families within the Neonatal ward setting. Being responsible on a shift by shift basis for the advanced neonatal nurse practitioner management of all neonates within the Trust in conjunction with a Consultant Paediatrician.
The ANNP bridges the professional and clinical boundaries between nursing and medical care enabling them to take on the role and responsibilities formerly undertaken by junior medical staff.
The ANNP supports the MDT with management on Trinity (Post-natal ward) and The Birth Centre / theatres at delivery. The ANNP will use collaborative and independent judgement to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement, manage, and evaluate clinical nursing and medical care and management of babies. This includes, high dependency, special care, Trinity ward and the birth centre.
The ANNP is a clinical expert and provides continuity to support the Neonatal Consultant team in delivering the care aspired to by the unit. The ANNP will take a lead in the unit which includes the medical admission, on-going assessment, treatment, and discharge of babies.
Also providing clinical leadership and supervision/support and structured teaching and mentorship for multidisciplinary professionals (including medical staff) to facilitate ongoing education, training and development.
