What You Will Do


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Records Clerical Officer working 37 hours per week Mon–Thurs 08:30 - 17:00, Friday 08:30 – 16:30. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to gain hands on experience in a busy and thriving, supportive office based environment.

Working Monday to Friday you will be based at Community Child Health Records Department, Argyll House, Cornhill Road, Aberdeen.

Flexible, enthusiastic and highly motivated, you will provide a comprehensive clerical support, within Community Child Health Records Department.

Primary duties include managing movements and filing of health records, data inputting, dealing with email queries, MS teams, updating systems for record movements and recording results, dealing with telephone enquiries from Health Vistiors/School Nurses etc, photocopying/scanning, and liaising with other internal and external departments.

Previous Admin / Clerical experience preferably in a Health Records department is desirable. A knowledge of GDPR and confidentiality is preferred.

You must have the ability to prioritise and manage the day-to-day workload in a busy, fast paced environment. You must be able to follow instruction clearly and effectively. You must have the ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision at times.

Good organisational and listening skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to working. A good level of English language competency and good communication skills necessary to perform this role safely and effectively are required.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new
