There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced paediatric nurse to join our dynamic and innovative team who jointly share a vision and culture to deliver exceptional care to children requiring surgical interventionsAt present, the Short Stay Surgical unit is based on the 3rd floor of Evelina as part of the Beach floor footprint, with the advent of cancer services coming to Evelina in 2026, there are plans for the short stay surgery to be relocated and aligned with inpatient surgical services. the successful candidate will be integral to the success of this project
The successful candidate will have an integral role in coordinating and delivering excellent care to children and supporting their families and carers. Experience of managing a team would be preferable and excellent organisational and leadership skills are essential.
This post is for a band 7 ward sister / charge nurse in the surgical directorate for short stay surgery. The post holder will be expected to lead the nursing team both clinically and managerially.
The successful individual will have substantial post registration experience as a senior staff nurse and above. As a band 7 you would bring excellent clinical skills and knowledge, and a desire to maintain and role model a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. You should have evidence of prior leadership and management and should illustrate a commitment to continuously developing your professional skills. The successful applicant will be integral to the ongoing recruitment and training of the nursing team, supported by the Nursing leadership team of Matron and Head of Nursing.
