The Role


  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will carry out routine personal care duties for patients, in support of and supervised by, a registered nurse.
  • The post holder will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward environment.


Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.

What We'll Need You To Bring


  • Knowledge of personal care and related procedures or previous volunteer or work experience in a health, education or social environment.
  • Required to undertake on the job training and induction
  • Undertake mandatory HCSW standards
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.


It Would Be Great If You Also Have


  • SVQ111 in healthcare or working towards or equivalent experience working in the role
  • Training in physical health checks in areas such as BP monitoring venepuncture
  • Previous experience in working with people in a community/ acute hospital setting
  • Direct/client one to one care
  • Wide range of caring experience
  • Should have an awareness of current developments in Dementia Care
  • Knowledge of approaches to risk management
  • Knowledge and awareness of develop supports for older people
  • Basic IT skills, Telephone, fax, email
  • Demonstrate excellent team leadership skills with ability to work using own initiative
  • Required to be flexible in post
  • Driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence
  • Good time management skills
  • Flexible working hours
