An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Falkland Islands to join the dental team based at the King Edwards Memorial Hospital in Stanley.
This role offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced
Dental Therapist
to join our established team at King Edward Memorial Hospital. You'll be instrumental in delivering high-quality dental care, focusing on preventative and restorative treatments, and enhancing the oral health standards within our community. With most dental care provided free of charge, you'll have the freedom to deliver the best possible care without financial barriers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough dental examinations and assessments
- Take and interpret radiographs for effective treatment planning
- Perform periodontal treatments to prevent and manage gum disease
- Provide direct restorative treatments, including fillings and sealants
- Safely extract deciduous (baby) teeth
- Apply fluoride treatments and other preventive measures
- Participate in the development and maintenance of the Falkland Islands' Oral Health Strategy
- Collaborate with other dental professionals to deliver integrated care
- Plan and implement Dental Health Education programs
- Engage with local schools and community groups to promote good oral hygiene practices
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a Dental Therapist who is passionate about oral health and has the experience and skills necessary to thrive in our unique environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Hold a degree in Dental Therapy & Hygiene or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years' experience
- Be registered with the UK General Dental Council or a recognized international equivalent
- Have comprehensive knowledge of professional dental therapy and hygiene instruments and methods
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills to explain treatments to patients in a calm and reassuring manner
- Be able to work and communicate effectively as part of a team in a busy general practice
The Package
- Up to 4 Years Fixed Term Contract
- Salary Range £40,668 to £46,667; starting salaries will be dependent upon experience
- Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract
- A work week of 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday
- 30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave)
- Relocation Allowance to help with moving costs

- Government Housing for rent and a starter pack to help you get settled in
